Things That Add Up

I was having a good couple weeks, and then Simon got me up today because he needed to leave for work and water was dripping speedily from the ceiling in the utility room.  I rescued the linens and towels and cleaning supplies before most of them got soaked, then laid a towel outside the room to catch the water that left the little linoleumed room.  Simon called the landlord (who said he’d just had a similar call from the girl upstairs) before he left while I was stumbling around, half-asleep, trying to keep everything from getting wet. I listened to it drip-drip-drip and smelled the rusty-water smell for a few hours while the actual issue was fixed a couple floors up.  Finally, just a couple minutes ago, the dripping finally slowed and came to an almost-stop.

Towels were laid out.  A fan set up.  But I don’t know what to do about the water that soaked through some of the paint.  I have a sudden paranoid fear that all the furnaces and water heaters are all going to come crashing through the floors above (Unreasonable, I know.  It would take more than a few hours of dripping water to make that happen)., due to the weird noises I’m hearing.  Those are probably associated with fixing the problem.  I’d bet a new water heater for the third floor, since I lack any other information at the moment.

This is not cool.  And I’m suddenly and unexpected grouchy and irritable.
